[BUG] No mouse / keyboard controls work in the main menu

Hello,

I’d love to play what looks like a beautiful game but I cannot get past the main menu. I downloaded / launched the game today from Steam and as soon as I reach the main menu there is no mouse cursor and keyboard inputs do not work. I have also tried using a wired xbox 360 controller, also without luck.

The symptoms sound similar to this previous post…

…but I think the cause must be different as I don’t have any saves yet that could have been corrupted (I checked that directory is empty).

I also have no idea why the game is trying to launch in 1024x768 resolution but that’s not my big problem right now.

System spec…
Windows 8.1
DirectX 11 (I think)
i7 Processor
12 GB RAM
Geforce GTX 770
Razor mouse and keyboard.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this / had chance to review the log? If there is anything that I can do to troubleshoot / provide any further information to help please let me know.

I’ve looked on the Steam forums as well, but not seen anything related.

This is the only game that I’m having input issues with.

The standout content in your log is that the game seems to think it’s running in a sandbox, and that’s breaking the input library. Do you have any idea what that might be caused by? How are you launching the game?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I’m launching the game from within Steam (Big Picture mode) via my Steam Link using Steam in Home Streaming.

The monitor (TV), mouse / keyboard and joypad are plugged into the Link. The tower is setup as a headless unit.

I had wondered if this could be the issue but I’ve not had any problems with other games played this way.

I will try plugging the mouse / keyboard directly into the desktop if you think that’s possibly the cause and report back.

I’d be interested to hear the result if you plug in directly. I don’t have a Steam Link but I’ll try some streaming when I get chance and see if that causes any issues…

Hi,

Just to quickly confirm, running the game ‘normally’ i.e. not streaming and with mouse / keyboard plugged directly into the desktop worked.

Note, just plugging the mouse / keyboard into the desktop, but still streaming the video and audio to the Link did not, so I think the problem is somewhere in how the Steam streaming sets up / modifies the environment the game is running in.

Off to enjoy the start of the game from my desk, rather than the couch :slight_smile:
